On Monday night Boston played host to Toronto in a back to back game. TOR beat BOS 3-2 on Saturday night up in TOR. So who would come out on top in this Division Game?

1st Period

Andrew Ference with a drive through the traffic, but Jay Pandolfo, provided the screen but TOR James Reimer had to save the shot. BOS's Tuukka Rask saw his first shot from TOR six minutes into the game. BOS had two registered shots on goal.

BOS had most of chances earlier on in the first but it became a tight-checked game with not too many opportunities at either end. BOS's Daniel Paille with speed streaked down the left wing and then fired a shot off Reimer's pad. Patrice Bergeron had a chance on the rebound. TOR's Colton Orr went to the box for a boarding call, BOS headed to their first Power Play (PP) of the game with 2:41 left in the first.

There was a nice shift by Paille, Bergeron and Tyler Seguin. 2 great chances by Paille off the wrister and near the tip off shot by Johnson. Seguin had a chance with a wrister too.

TOR's Kulemin beat Rask's stick side on a breakaway but after Nazem Kadri fed a pass up the middle of the ice, following a block of a TOR's shot. BOS down 2-0. Not long after TOR scored their second, BOS scored to make it a 2-1 game.

BOS's Rich Peverley picked up a loose puck and fed it to Milan Lucic, who then powered in on Reimer, and put it a five-hole.

TOR's Phil Kessel broke his stick, as BOS's Dennis Seidenberg went to the box for a slashing call with 3:23 left in the 2nd. BOS's back on the PK for the 2nd time of the game.

During the BOS's PK, Paille with good speed, with a shorthanded spun and had a great chance in front of Reimer and Peverley had a chance earlier on in the PK. There was quick pace after Lucic's goal to end the 2nd.

The horn sounded to bring the 2nd period to a close. TOR lead 2-1 going into the 3rd.

3rd period

TOR's Lupul drew a hooking call on Bergeron just 30 seconds into the final period of the game. Another great shift by Lucic, Peverley and Jordan Caron. Peverley hacked away in front of a loose puck and then Peverley and Michael Kostka exchanged shoves after the play.

Bergeron right on front, but Reimer held on to it and everyone jumped in to scramble, with words and then shoves were exchanged. BOS tied the game from Bergeron.

Hamilton showed some great offensive moves down low behind the goal and then he found Bergeron at the right faceoff circle for the equalizer. There was some extracurricular activity after a whistle behind Reimer. But only Ference and Dion Phaneuf head to the box for a roughing call. With under 2:00 to go in the regulation the game is still knotted at 2-2.

The horn sounded to bring the 3rd to a end, but with the score still tied the game will now go into Overtime (OT).

On Sunday night Boston took on their fiercest rivals the Montreal Canadiens in the TD Garden. Are MTL looking for revenge on BOS, because BOS came out on top 2-1 in the Bell Centre on February 6th.

1st Period

In the first six minutes MTL had four shots to BOS's 1 on goal. BOS's Chris Kelly and Daniel Paille with a 2-on-1 down the right wing. Kelly held and fired a shot that hit the post and ricochets right out. Within 10 minutes of the 1st MTL drew the first penalty of the night, as BOS's Andy Ference went to the box for interference. During MTL's Power Play (PP), Tomas Plekanec opened the scoring. Plekanec fanned on a shot, right at the top of the crease and the puck went right off the heel of his stick and through Tuukka Rask's leg.

Just forty seconds after MTL scored BOS tied the game 1-1. Patrice Bergeron won the faceoff and Brad Marchand got the puck behind the goal and past it to Bergeron who then fed it to Tyler Sequin who then tapped it in.

Right back to the other end David Desharnais gave MTL a 2-1 lead. Play was under review as the puck looked to come off his skate but the goal stood. A serious momentum shifted back and forth at midway point of the 1st period. The three goals were scored in two minutes but MTL were leading 2-1.

With less than 2 minutes to go in the period BOS had their first PP of the game, as Brendan Gallagher went to the box for a charging call.

The horn sounded to bring the 1st to a end..MTL leading 2-1.

2nd Period

Five minutes into the second BOS tied the game 2-2. Seguin raced down the left wing and feed Bergeron, who then slotted the puck past Peter Budaj and into the net. Lars Eller went to the box for a cross-checking call but just five seconds later Milan Lucic went to the box for a holding call. 4-on-4 action for 1:55. With ten minutes gone in the second BOS took the lead 3-2. Marchand's initial shot was deflected and it ended up on Dougie Hamilton's stick whose quick shot put it home. There was a lucky bounce on Hamilton's goal.

MTL had a two player advantage as both Adam McQuaid and Ference went to the box for cross-checking and a hooking calls. Milan Lucic and Brandon Prust squared off near the blueline in a heated bout. Lucic with a handful of hard rights. McQuaid and Eller nearly had a go in front of Rask's goal. The crowd in the TD Garden erupted.

Lucic and Prust with their bout in the 2nd period.

Not long after the Lucic and Prust fight, BOS captain Zdeno Chara, took a exception hit on Seguin by Alexei Emelin. Chara threw eight or nine upper cuts on Emelin behind the goal line. Chara had a triple penalty (fighting, misconduct and a instigator). Shawn Thornton served Chara's instigator.

The horn sounds to end the second. BOS leading 3-2.

3rd Period

Six minutes into the last period MTL tied the game 3-3. Max Pacioretty with a shot from the high slot, and from Rask's reaction, he didn't see the puck through the traffic.

Pacioretty celebrates his goal against BOS.

Thornton lost his stick and Marchand made a drive with the loose puck shot it over the errant stick. But Budaj made the save. Right after the great chance by BOS, thanks to Daniel Paille's forecheck. MTL rushed right to the other end and Desharnais found the loose puck in front. Pacioretty's initial chance nearly went in at the goal mouth but Rask's right pad and the post saved it. But Desharnais then pounced on the loose puck to poke it in. MTL leads 4-3. BOS were looking for a delay of game call after the puck went over the glass but the call did not come. With less than three minutes to go BOS were looking for their comeback magic

With less than a minute to go BOS pulled Rask out of the goal. Twenty seconds left BOS called a Timeout. At the end of the game Budaj robbed Seguin.

The horn sounded to end the game....

MTL won 4-3
On Tuesday night Boston ended their long road trip, when then took on the New York Islanders in Nassau Coliseum in Long Island.

1st Period

At the start of the game both BOS and NYI were both trading speedy rushes earlier. There was a great chance by the pair of Brad Marchand and Tyler Seguin. Marchand redirected a pass from Seguin in front but it was stopped. With 7 minutes gone in the 1st BOS took the lead. BOS's Seguin fed Adam McQuaid into the zone at the right point and McQuaid who fired a shot and it got through NYI's goaltender Evgeni Nabokov's on his glove side.

There was a lot of back and forth but BOS's goaltender Tuukka Rask was looking solid with timely stops including a Michael Grabner's breakaway. With 14 minutes gone in the first BOS's Gregory Campbell went to the box for a tripping call.

BOS managed to kill the penalty but NYI scored to tie the game 1-1. Rask went down to stop Josh Bailey but Bailey managed to fed the puck to NYI's forward Casey Cizikas who roofed it.

Cizikas's celebrate with his team mates after a tieing goal.

It was a fairly uncharacteristic backchecked by BOS on the NYI's goal. NYI were able to chip the puck in behind the Defense and beat BOS to the scoring area. With less than 3 minutes to go in the first BOS got their first Power Play (PP) of the game, as Radek Martinek went to the box for a tripping call.

The horn sounds to end the 1st period. Score still tied at 1-1.

2nd Period

With just 38 seconds into the 2nd, Marchand scored BOS's 2nd goal and the 3rd goal of the night. BOS's Andy Ference's shot from the left point got through, and Marchand found the loose puck in front. BOS's Zdeno Chara, fed a cross ice pass to Nathan Horton on the right side, who then passed it to Milan Lucic and then Lucic backhanded it over to David Krejci on the left wing, who then ripped it in. BOS leading NYI 2-1.

Lucic celebrating Krejci's goal.

Within 3 minutes NYI had two penalties Mark Streit went to the box for a roughing call and Lubomir Visnovsky went to the box for a delay of game call as the puck went over the glass. BOS nearly converted after Chris Bourque drove the puck from the slot and Patrice Bergeron could not put the loose puck into the net but nice job by NYI on the Penalty Kill (PK) to keep it out.

BOS went on a PP as Travis Hamonic went to the box for a hooking call. During the PP Krejci displayed his two-way play. Gone down to block NYI racing down the left wing. It was great timing to cancel the shorthanded chance. Johnny Boychuck showed his wheels with a wraparound opportunity earlier and then just had room to carry the puck into the zone and created havoc for Nabokov. BOS's Bergeron went to the box for a interference call. Rask had a fantastic save on a Streit shot from the top of the circles. Not sure how Rask saw the shot through the traffic but Rask got his right pad on to it. With 2 minutes to go Chara went to the box for a hooking call.

The horn sounds to end the 2nd period. BOS leading the NYI 3-1.

3rd Period

Krejci had a incredible chance on the backhand and then Lucic with a one-timer stopped by Nabokov. Nathan Horton with a drive and Krejci nearly got his stick on a loose puck in front. Under 2 minutes to go NYI pulled Nabokov. Campbell with a shot from the neutral zone and the puck ended up in the net.

The horn sounds to end the game. BOS won the game 4-1.

1* Tuukka Rask
2** Brad Marchand
This is the longest road trip for BOS since the season started on January 19th.

1st Period

BOS started off the best and the quickest as BOS's Nathan Horton, scored in the first two minutes of the game. Horton fired into the wide open net from the left faceoff circle. TB were sloppy at times in their play and BOS picked up on that, and within four minutes were 2-0 up, BOS's Patrice Bergeron. It was a great feed from behind the goal by Brad Marchand who then slide the puck to Bergeron who then slotted the puck home. With 4:07 on the clock BOS's Dougie Hamilton went to the box for a hi-sticking call.

It took nearly 5 minutes for TB to get into the game and in 8:13 TB scored. TB's Teddy Purcell could not get the stick on to the puck with the BOS defense in front, so TB's Steven Stamkos stepped into the slot and fired it over BOS's Tuukka Rask's glove to make the score BOS 2 TB 1.

After TB scored they had a few chances and the best one was when TB had the open net but it came back off the post and BOS's Tuukka Rask denied the follow up attempt by gloving right off a TB's stick. TB's Victor Hedman and BOS's Adam McQuaid got tangled near the boards in the trapezoid and they were a few shoves back and forth but nothing prevail.

With just over a minute to go in the period and BOS's Rask had been the busier of the two goaltender with another great save this time on TB's Alex Killon, as Nate Thompson forechecked and fed him right on front.

The horn sounds to bring the 1st period to a close. BOS were still leading 2-1.

2nd Period

With two minutes gone in the 2nd TB had three more shots on Rask and BOS with the only one on TB's Andreas Lindback. There was a nice play by BOS's Milan Lucic, to use Hedman as a screen before firing a shot on Lindback and with Tyler Sequin working to draw defenders in front. With nine minutes gone in the 2nd TB scored to tie the game 2-2. TB's rookie Cory Conacher from the left faceoff circle as his shot beats Rask and BOS's Rask was unlucky as it went under his glove.

5 minutes after the tieing score BOS regained the lead. Seguin's shot got broken up and BOS Brad Marchand immediately jumped onto the puck at the harsh marks and rocketed the puck past TB's Lindback .

Sequin celebrating Marchand's goal to take a 3-2 goal lead.

Rask stopped TB's Marty St Louis breakaway, just before BOS's rush for the go ahead tally. With less than a minute to go in the 2nd TB's Conacher drew a roughing penalty on BOS's captain Zdeno Chara.

Not too sure what happened but it looked like TB's Conacher said something to riled up Marchand and Chara, a few shoves were involved and Chara went off.

The horn sounds to end the 2nd. Boston leading 3-2 heading into the 3rd.

3rd Period

With less than 3 minutes into the 3rd period BOS increased the lead to 4-2. Horton scored his 2nd goal of the night. It was perfectly executed deflection as Horton got his stick point shot from Chara.

Chara noticed that he did not have a clear shot, so he set up Horton for the redirected goal. There was some nice puck movement from David Krejci and Dougie Hamilton. Hamilton who then gave the puck to Chara, to set up the goal.

Not long after BOS scored, TB had a terrific chance to score, as TB's Benoit Pouliot's shot was saved by Rask in the crease. There was a nice pass from Seguin after a battle along the boards lead a chance in front of Lucic but TB's Lindback with a good pokecheck to deny. With less than 6 minutes to go in the game, BOS's McQuaid went to the box for a tripping call. With under a minute to go, TB pulled their goaltender Lindback. The last penalty of the game went to TB's Vincent Lecavalier went for a tripping call.

The horn sounds to end the game. Boston won the game 4-2..

The 3***s of the Game went to:

2** Teddy Purcell
On Sunday night, Boston played Buffalo in the First Niagara Center, after the unfortunate postponed game from Saturday against Tampa Bay. BOS had a extra rest after they played in the Bell Center on Wednesday night. This is the first of two meetings when the two teams face each other, on Friday night, in First Niagara Center.

1st Period

In the first six minutes of the game they were loads of changes for both teams. But BOS's were 7 shots to BUFF's 3 to the good. But BUFF did have a few chances to take the lead especially when Marcus Foligno skirted the puck past an open net. There was a scuffle in front of BOS's Anton Khudobin, and BUFF's Patrick Kaleta was making his presence felt as he had big hits on BOS's Adam McQuaid and Daniel Paille.

BOS's Gregory Campbell and BUFF's Kaleta squared off just inside the blueline, near to the penalty box.

BUFF's Kaleta and BOS's Campbell, fight during the 1st

BUFF's Kaleta finally went with a BOS player and Campbell gave a great effort. BUFF's Kaleta went to the box for a 5 min fighting major however that was not the same for BOS's Campbell as he was charged three penalties, fighting 5 minutes, game misconduct 10 mins and a instigator, but with BOS's Campbell with already having the 15 major, BOS's Shawn Thornton will serve the 2 mins penalty in the box.

With 2.5 minutes remaining in the period BUFF's Cody Hodgson, went to the box for a slashing call, as he slashed BOS's Chris Kelly on a breakaway. BOS head for their first Power Play (PP) of the game.

The horn sounded to bring the 1st to a close. BOS were 16 shots to BUFF's 13 on goal.

2nd Period

BOS started the 2nd on a PP for the first 2 mins, but BUFF managed to kill that penalty, however BUFF went right back on the Penalty Kill (PK), as BUFF's Steve Ott went to the box for a unsportsmanlike conduct call, BOS on their 2nd PP of the period. For 41 secs BOS had a 5-on-3 advantage as BUFF's Alexander Sulzer went to the box for a cross-checking call. BOS were leading shots on goal (22-14,SOG).

With 8 minutes gone in the 2nd BOS took the lead, BOS's Andy Ference with a great play, to fake a slap shot, then to pass the puck to BOS's Brad Marchand at the left of the faceoff circle. BOS's Marchand then beat BUFF's Ryan Miller's glove side.

BOS's Marchand with the first goal of the game

In the 11th minute of the 2nd, BOS's Marchand went to the box for a faceoff violation. This is a new rule, as BOS's Marchand pushed the puck with his hand at the faceoff circle. With less than 5 minutes to go BOS went on their PP of the game as BUFF's Mike Weber went to the box for a tripping call as BUFF's Weber tripped up BOS's Chris Bourque. BUFF tied the game with less than 2 minutes to go. BUFF's Drew Stafford's forecheck worked along the boards and then got the puck to a wide open BUFF's Tyler Ennis.

The horn sounded to bring the 2nd to a end.

3rd Period

Through the first couple of minutes of the 3rd, there was some back to forth action. With 8 minutes gone in the 3rd BUFF's Weber went to the box for a delay of the game call. BOS were on their 5th PP of the game. BOS's Patrice Bergeron won a faceoff and the puck went to BOS's Bourque, who fired a shot that deflected from the boards and it went right back to BOS's Bergeron fired a shot and the puck ended up in the BUFF's net. BOS leads 2-1. But with that PP goal (PPG), nobody saw BOS's Bergeron got kicked off the faceoff and it was indeed BOS's Rich Peverley who won the faceoff and then he started the play.

BOS's Bergeron with the 3rd goal of the night and BOS's 2nd goal.

BOS's Milan Lucic added a 3rd goal, as BOS's Lucic's goal was a open netter, as just before BUFF pulled Miller out of the net. BOS ended the game on a PK as BOS's Ference went to the box for a hi-sticking.

The horn sounded to end the game.

The three stars of the game were:

1* Khudobin
2** Miller
3*** Bergeron

BOS now head back to Boston to play New York Rangers, at the TD Garden with a 7.30p start.
Who will come out on top in this top of Conference and Division Game.

1st Period
Boston's David Krejci won the opening faceoff. The first shot of the game went to Montreal's Colby Armstrong, as he drove the puck to the net nearly passed Lars Eller to put it past BOS's Tuukka Rask but it did not convert. MTL's Tomas Plekanec nearly put the puck past BOS's Rask, on the door step but could not poke in the rebound. BOS's Rask made some nice saves right after.

In the 5th minute BOS got their first Power Play (PP) as MTL's Rene Bourque went to the box for a goaltender inference call. BOS's Tyler Sequin went to the box for a holding call. For 10 seconds it was 4-on-4 and then MTL had their first PP of the game. MTL's Eller had a breakaway down the middle but BOS's Rask made another save.

BOS's Rask had been the busier of the two goaltenders as MTL Carey Price had not one single shot at that point in the game. For every MTL shot BOS's Rask had been in the right spot. Under the 4th minute BOS started to keep the puck in the o-zone more and started to create more chances down low. With less than 4 mins left in the 1st, BOS had their 2nd PP of the game, when MTL's PK Subban went to the box for a hooking call.

The horn sounded to bring the 1st to a close with the score at 0-0. MTL's were leading 11 shots to BOS's 4 on goal.

2nd Period
With 55 seconds of the start of the 2nd BOS's Johnny Boychuk went to the box for a tripping call, as he tripped up MTL's David Desharnais at the back of the goal. MTL's Plekanec had the best chance to score when he went on a breakaway up the middle but the puck rolled off his stick and went the harsh marks. BOS went on their 3rd PP of the game as MTL were called for having too many on the ice so MTL's Brendan Gallagher sat on the bench.

BOS's Rich Peverley had a great chance to open the scoring after being planted in front of MTL's Price, not long after that chance BOS's Milan Lucic went to the box for a hi-sticking call, halfway through the 2nd.

MTL did not have a single shot on goal with nearly 10 minutes gone in the 2nd and BOS had 5. In the 11th min MTL took the lead. MTL's Subban, fired a shot that looked it deflected of MTL's Bourque. But the assists went to Plekanec and Andrey Markov.

That MTL's goal was on the PP, which Rask nearly gloved but unluckily he could not keep it out of the net. With 6 minutes left of the 2nd BOS went on a penalty kill (PK) as Lucic went to the box for a slashing call.

BOS's Adam McQuaid exchanged with MTL's Travis Moen, after Moen hit BOS's Patrice Bergeron along the boards, but no fight came out of it.

The horn sounded to bring the 2nd period to a end. How will Boston react to the MTL goal.

3rd Period
BOS's Seguin tied the game with just 20 seconds into the 3rd after BOS's Krejci fed Sequin behind the goal line.

Seguin celebrates with Krejci

In the 3rd minute of the 3rd BOS took a 2-1 lead. BO's Krejci had a great net drive to tip in pass from crashing the crease.

Krejci scoring BOS's 2nd goal, 3rd goal of the game.

Both of the BOS's goals were, scored down low and both of them with goal line passes thrown towards the front of the net.

In the 6th minute of the final period BOS's Chris Kelly went to the box for a hooking call. BOS's McQuaid and MTL's Brandon Prust wrestled a bit and both exchanged words after a scuffle in front of Rask's goal but did not come to blows. Both McQuaid and Gallagher went to the box for a unsportsmanlike conduct and a roughing call. 4-on-4 in the midpoint of the 3rd period.

Desharnais had a chance on Rask's door step, but Rask done the splits and made him self big in front of the goal and the puck skirts passed left pad.

BOS's Lucic with a huge block and then drove the puck down left and nearly generated a chance in front of the goal. Less than 2 minutes to go in the final period Subban went to the box for a slashing call. MTL pulled Price out of the net with under 1 minute to go in the game. Krejci went to the box for a hooking call with 34 seconds left of the game. 4-on-4 hockey for the remained of the regulation.
Both teams had a strong start to the season, but lately TOR have lost a few games. Who will come out on top in this division Game?

1st Period
There was a good tempo start to the game and within three minutes of the start, BOS's Lane MacDermid And TOR's Mark Fraser squared off just inside the blueline. It was a pretty even fight as they both gave effective jabs but it was TOR's Fraser's as he got the takedown. The both players go to the box for a 5 min fighting major.

Fraser and MacDermid's fight in the 1st.

Through the first eight minutes of the first, the shots on goal were tied at 5-5. Nathan Horton had a great chance after a takeaway but the puck was deflected high.

With nine minutes gone of the first BOS scored the opening goal of the game. BOS's Chris Bourque scored his first goal for BOS.

Bourque celebrates with his teammates after the goal.

BOS's Rich Peverley fed the puck to Chris Kelly behind the goal, and then Kelly backhanded a centering pass to Bourque, who then turned the puck into the TOR net. That was Bourque's first goal in a BOS's uniform. After his goal Bourque pumped his fist just like his father, a former BOS legend Ray Bourque.

TOR's Cody Franson with a high slap shot went into the net but the goal was not given as BOS's goaltender Tuukka Rask was knocked out of the play by TOR's Nazem Kadri. BOS's David Krejci had a great vision fed a puck to a trailing Adam McQuaid in the slot but the rebound pops out and Milan Lucic nearly tips the puck into the goal mouth.

With four seconds left of the first BOS's Kelly went to the box for a hooking call on TOR's Nikolai Kulemin, after Jay McClement nearly got a breakaway down on the the right wing.

The horn sounded to bring the first to a close. BOS's were still leading 1-0 thanks to Bourque's first goal for BOS. BOS were leading 12 shots to TOR's 7 on goal.

2nd Period

BOS's started the 2nd on a Penalty Kill (PK) with Kelly in the box. BOS's McQuaid blocked a hard shot and he was slowly getting off the ice. However he stayed on the bench. TOR's Phil Kessel had a chance down the right wing after a takeaway in the neutral zone but the shot glanced off the cross bar.

BOS's Brad Marchand started the play, drove towards the net down the Left Wing and got tripped up at the goal and slid into the boards. BOS's Patrice Bergeron's shot deflected of Tyler Seguin's skate and the puck went into the TOR's net. But it was ruled that there was contact on the TOR's goaltender James Reimer.

With twelve minutes gone of the 2nd BOS had their first Power Play (PP) of the game after TOR's captain Dion Phaneuf went to the box for a delay of the game call. The PP came after a great chance by Nathan Horton flew up the off wing and then followed by two big shot blocks by Johnny Boychuk. BOS's Boychuk had another big block as he slide in front of the crease near the faceoff circle, as TOR had a good chance down low.

Less than 5 mins left of the 2nd, BOS's MacDermid and TOR's Fraser immediately dropped the gloves. Fraser did not like the MacDermid's hit on Kessel. After a quick few jabs by MacDermid and Fraser was taken down.

The horn sounded to bring the 2nd to an end. BOS still leading narrowly 1-0. BOS's leading 24 shots to TOR's 14 on goal.

3rd Period

Two minutes gone in the 3rd , TOR's Leo Komarov went to the box for a boarding call and BOS's Zdeno Chara went to the box for a roughing call. BOS did not allow a shot on goal by TOR until the seventh minute into the 3rd. When Phaneuf sent a shot that Rask easily cradled against the spooked B.

TOR went on a PP when BOS's Dennis Seidenburg with an interference call, went to the box in the eighth minute. Gregory Campbell with a diving sweep to clear the puck on the PK. earlier in the PK Campbell with a stickhandled with puck down near Reimer to kill time.

BOS still leading 1-0 with less than 3 minutes to go in the game. BOS's Seguin went to the box for a slashing call on TOR's McClement. Near the end of the game TOR pulled Reimer out of the game. There was 4 on 4 hockey as TOR's Michael Kostka trips up BOS's Kelly. The horn sounded to end the game.

Boston won the game 1-0 and are now 6-1-1 for the season. Boston finished the game with 34 shots to Toronto's 21 on goal.

Boston now head to the Bell Center in Montreal on Wednesday 7.30p start.
On Saturday afternoon Boston played host to the Washington Capitals in Game 2 in the Quarter Finals of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Game 1 was a good game, so what has Game 2 got in store for the fans.

1st Period

Wash takes control of the Faceoff and Game 2 is underway. On his first shift Alex Ovechkin initiated contact with Dennis Seidenberg and Zdeno Chara. Boston goes on the first PK as Chara gets a hold of Ovechkin to draw Wash a PP. Chara goes to the box for 2 minutes. With 37 seconds left of the Wash PP, Greg Zanon and Brooks Laich as they both exchanged shoves after the whistle. Boston with a successful PK and with a amazing pace as both teams have had scoring chances.

Ovechkin seemed to be very determined to put a number in his playoff scoring line, as he was everywhere. Benoit Pouliot with a nifty move down the left side draws a penalty call as Mike Green hooks onto Pouliot's stick. Green goes to the box for 2 minutes. In Game 1 Boston were 0-4 on the PP. Wash with a successful PK as Boston with the only shot on goal with 8:08 left in the period. Wash goes on another PP as Chris Kelly goes to the box for a hooking call. Kelly goes for 2 minutes. During the PK for Boston, Brad Marchand had a shorthanded chance and then he got into to it with Troy Brouwer after the whistle. A huge success for Boston on the PK. Ovechkin has been the best player for the Caps so far as hes has 9 shots on goal. The horn sounds to end the 1st and the score remains 0-0.

2nd Period ( middle Stanza)

Boston and Wash are back on for the middle stanza. Boston's goaltender Tim Thomas stopped Ovechkin on a partial breakaway, and it was smart for Thomas to stay home when he could of gone for the pokecheck. Not long after that save by Thomas Wash's Roman Hamrlik goes to the box as he cross-checked Marchand. So Hamrlik goes to the box for 2 minutes. During the PP Patrice Bergeron's shot just trickles goes wide after the puck goes through Braden Holtby's pads. Wash's PK are doing a very good job as it remains 0-0. The Young Goalie continues to go strong as Dan Paille and the Merlot line kept pester Holtby.

Seidenberg was not pleased with Ovechkin as he put his glove and stick into his face after the whistle. The game is getting a bit more intense as the game goes on. During the last play John Carlson and Bergeron had a stare at each other after some extracurriculars in the last play. Another save by Holtby as Greg Zanon had a shot after Gregory Campbell tipped it. With 8:49 left in the 2nd Wash goes on another PP as Marchand goes to the box for a hi-sticking call. Marchand goes to the box for 2 minutes. What another terrific PK by Boston. Unfortunately with 02:03 minutes left in the 2nd, Brouwer picked up a loose puck in front of Thomas and puts the puck into the net. Brouwer with his first goal in the playoffs, and Ovechkin with his 1st assist of the playoffs.Karl Alzner with his 1st assist of the playoffs. At the horn they was a huge pile up in front of the Wash's goal with Bergeron and Alzner started it as they got into it. Oh wow as they were no penalties after that huge scrum and the score still at 1-0 Wash.

3rd Period.

This is the final stanza in regulation. The game is getting more physical as Johnny Boychuk had a big hit on Ovechkin. Holtby is having a amazing game as he now robs Marchand. On the 13th minute Boston scores as Pouliot fought hard to the net and forced the puck through Holtby. That was Pouliot's first career playoff goal. The assists on Boston's goal go to Brian Rolston (2) and Kelly (1).

Boston continues to bring the physical as every puck is contested while nobody getting down the ice easily for Wash. Thomas was also getting in to the action as he popped Nicklas Backstrom. Score remains 1-1. After 60 minutes we are going to OT.

Overtime

The extra 20 minutes of the game is underway. Wow Kelly nearly done it again but Holtby saves it. During the OT Shawn Thornton goes to the locker room but doesnt appear to be injured it did look like a equipment problem. Thornton is now back on the Boston's bench.

Both teams are trading chances with 11:01 left in the extra session. Seidenberg is the 1st player in the game to reach 30 minutes of ice time. Thomas has two massive saves to keep the score at 1-1. But the horn sounds to end the extra period.

2nd Overtime

Another 20 minutes to go. The both sets of players must be getting tired by now. Thomas and Holtby have been excellent. But unfortunately with 2:56 left in the extra session Backstrom puts the puck into the back of Thomas's net to make it 2-1 Wash. Marcus Johansson with the assist (1). With that goal Wash wins the game.

On April 12th Boston took on Washington Capitals in Game 1 in the Quarter Finals of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. This time last year Boston took on Montreal Canadiens and defeated them in 7 games. This should be a great series of games between these two organisations.

1st Period

Patrice Bergeron wins the opening faceoff to get game 1 underway. Braden Holtby had to be really sharp on the saves pretty early on in the period as Boston had prime chances in the first couple of minutes. Mathieu Perreault blocked a shot off Shawn Thornton and the puck hit just at the side of the left knee, looked to be having trouble getting to his bench. Jason Chimera had the first shot on goal for WASH, he then collided Andy Ference and Tim Thomas.

In the Boston zone Shawn Thornton just crushed Marcus Johansson with a big check, While Boston continued to press the WASH's goaltender Braden Holtby. With 7:06 left in the 1st WASH goes on a PP as David Krejci goes to the box for a boarding call, he goes to the box for 2 minutes. Boston successfully killed the penalty as WASH could not take the advantage as the both had 1 shot on goal. On his shift Alex Ovechkin was throwing his weight around a bit as he had big hits on Patrice Bergeron and Zdeno Chara. With less than 2 minutes to go Boston goes on a PP as Jay Beagle goes to the box for a double minor call (hi-sticking), he goes to the box for 2 minutes. Horn sounds to end the 1st. After 20 minutes score remains 0-0 and Boston has 9 shots to WASH's 5 on goal. Both Shawn Thornton and Zdeno Chara are team high with 3 hits each.

2nd Period

Boston wins the draw and the middle stanza is underway. Boston went and immediately tested Braden Holtby's goal but to no prevail. Just as WASH successfully killed that penalty they give Boston another PP as Troy Brouwer goes to the box for a delay of game call, he sends the puck over the glass, he goes for 2 minutes. Impressive work by the CAPS during that PK. Boston are now 0/3 with a man advantage. They was a epic collision between Alex Ovechkin and Dennis Seidenburg. The crowd in the Garden are trying to pump the Boston team up as the score remains 0-0.

But it seamed to have woken WASH up as they started to test Tim Thomas. Braden Holtby even robbed Dan Paille to keep the score remain 0-0. Just behind the WASH net there was a massive scrum as John Carlson did not like David Krejci running into Braden Holtby. Both John Carlson and David Krejci both goes to the box for a roughing call, both get 2 minutes. During the PP for Boston, WASH gets another penalty against them, this time for goaltender Braden Holtby gets a roughing call. As a goaltender is needed for the net his team mate Marcus Johansson serves his 2 minutes. Even though WASH are down to 3 players on the ice they managed to keep Boston at bay. Boston had some glorious chances but could not get the puck in the net. With 1:25 left in the 2nd Marcus Johansson was shaken up as the puck hit his helmet but he seems to be alright. Horn sounds. After 40 minutes score remains 0-0. WASH Braden Holtby and their PK seems to be the story thus far of Game 1.

3rd period

The teams are back out for the final stanza of regulation. Matt Hendricks pushed Andy Ference into Tim Thomas and knocks Tim Thomas's helmet off, he takes a minute to reset his helmet. Zdeno Chara goes to the box for a minor call (hi-sticking), he goes to the box for 2 minutes with 16:48 left in the regulation. Boston manages to kill off WASH's PP. WASH was making Boston nervous as they stepped up with their shots on goal but Tim Thomas was very sharp.

Braden Holtby managed to get a glove to Tyler Seguin's latest shot, and then Joe Corvo's shot just narrowly missed the goal and came back off the post. Nicklas Backstrom also had his shot saved by Tim Thomas. WASH took a timeout with 1:33 remaining in regulation. Horn sounds to end regulation. Score remains 0-0 after 60 minutes

How is this game still 0-0. So far its been end to end chances. But to be fair both Goaltenders have been excellent and now we go to a another 20 minutes. What can happen in OT.

Over-time

Both teams are on the ice to start OT. Tim Thomas started with a save, he then gave the puck to Brian Rolston. Brian Rolston passes the puck to Benoit Pouliot, and then Benoit Pouliot passed the puck to Chris Kelly. Chris Kelly from the point shots the puck into the WASH goal, to finish the game. Chris Kelly with his 1st goal of the playoffs. Brian Rolston and Benoit Pouliot with their 1st assists of the playoffs.

On Thursday night Ottawa played host to the North East Champions Boston Bruins. Boston also gave Goaltender Anton Khudobin his first NHL start.

Both teams are on the ice to start the game and Boston's Rich Peverley wins the opening faceoff and Game 81 is underway. Boston's goaltender Anton Khudobin made his 1st 2 saves as a Boston's goaltender as the Senators set up a camp in the Boston's zone but David Krejci and his team mates corrected that. With the score remaining 0-0 Anton Khudobin and Ben Bishop have been really sharp and with just 16:09 left in the 1st, its pretty evenly with the shots on goals tied at 3-3. Greg Zanon blocked a shot and the puck hit him right in the face, he heads straight down the tunnel with Head Athletic Trainer Donnie DelNegro. But he wasnt gone for long as he was back on the bench pretty quick. On the 11 minute Boston takes the lead 1-0. Defenseman Jordan Caron with a nice defensive play at the Boston's blueline, with a slick puck to Brian Rolston, who then gives the puck to Benoit Pouliot, to tip the puck into the Senators goal. Benoit Pouliot with his 16th goal of the season. Brian Rolston with his 17th assist of the season and Jordan Caron with his 8th assist of the season. Not long after the goal Anton Khudobin with a nice nifty glove save, when Chris Phillips drove the puck through a lot of traffic. On the 14:25 minute OTT went on their first PP of the night, Brian Rolston gets a slashing call and gets 2 minutes in the box. OTT's PP is 9th in the league with a 18.5% and Boston's PK is tied 11th in the league with a 83.2%. Boston's Gregory Campbell kills sometime on the PK and he punctuates his shift with a spinning backhand shot on Ben Bishop. Anton Khudobin with his 14th save of the night, and OTT's Chris Neil was in his face and Adam McQuaid did not like it. At the sound of the horn, to end the 1st, Adam McQuaid and Chris Neil were pushing and shoving, Gregory Campbell and Shawn Thornton were in the middle. After 20 minutes Anton Khudobin looked really comfortable considering OTT had 17 shots to Boston's 7.

Both teams are back on the ice for the 2nd. Anton Khudobin with a very quick save at the start of the 2nd. Boston is still ahead 1-0 with 18:14 left. A massive shot from the point by Greg Zanon and the puck finds a hole and into the OTT's goal. Greg Zanon with his 3rd goal of the season. Doesnt look like OTT is going to beat Anton Khudobin low as the goaltender, with another kick save thats no 22 for Anton Khudobin. 8:56 left in the 2nd and with Boston leading 2-0, OTT goes back on a PP with Boston's David Krejci going to the box for a holding call. David Krejci goes for 2 minutes. During the PP Anton Khudobin had three more saves and a very successful PK. Boston takes a timeout after a icing with 6:37 left in the 2nd. Jason Spezza walked into the middle, used a Bruin as a screenshot and shot, the bid caught Anton Khudobin by surprise and the score is 2-1. Jason Spezza with his 34th goal of the season. Erik Karlsson with his 59th assist of the season and Filip Kuba with his 26th assist of the season. Not Long after OTT scored, Boston goes on a PP as Kyle Turris goes to the box for a holding call, and he goes for 2 minutes. Boston's PP is tied at 14th in the NHL with a 17.3% and OTT's PK is 15th in the NHL with a 81.9%. Anton Khudobin managed to bounce back with two more highlight reel saves with the pads. The horn sounds to end the 2nd. After 40 minutes the score is still 2-1,but OTT were still leading with 34 shots on goals to Boston's 19.

Both set of players are on for the final time. OTT were working really hard early in the 3rd but Boston were standing tall with 13:20 left to go. On 6:40 OTT goes back on a PP as Boston's Shawn Thornton goes to the box for a delay of game call. Shawn Thornton tipped the puck over the Glass, gets 2 minutes. During the PK Boston's goaltender Anton Khudobin had another three saves, he has had 38 saves in the whole game with 10:58 left to go. It was then Boston's time to go on a PP as Kyle Turris goes to the box for a hi-sticking call, he goes to the box for 2 minutes with 8:49 left in regulation. Erik Karlsson missed a wide open goal Boston dodged a bullet and with 6:35 left Boston remain 2-1. With 4:33 left Milan Lucic scored with a snap shot and a lovely pass by David Krejci. Milan Lucic with his 26th goal of the season. David Krejci with his 39th assist of the season, and Torey Krug with his 1st assist of the season. Not long after the Boston's goal both Matt Carkner and Andrew Ference got caught up in a tangled after a play. Both get a roughing call and go to the box for 2 minutes with 3:37 left in regulation. And just after that Call finished OTT gets another penalty call this one goes to Jesse Winchester at the bench for abusing the officials call. he goes for 2 minutes. The horn sounds to end the game. Boston wins 3-1. OTT had 43 shots on goal to Boston's 27.

On Tuesday night, Boston played host to the Pittsburgh Penguins. Before the game Boston's Center Tyler Seguin was voted by the fans as NESN's seventh player award. Congrats Tyler.

Both teams are on the Ice to start the game. Within 28 seconds Pittsburgh goes on a PP. David Krejci goes to the box for 2 minutes, for a Delay of the game. David Krejci knocked the puck over the glass.Pittsburgh's Power Play is 6th in the NHL with a 19.3% but Boston's Penalty Kill is 10th in the NHL with a 83.7%, Rich Peverley could not quite get to the front of the net on a short hand during the PK, nice penalty kill for Boston. On the 8th minute of the game both Milan Lucic and James Neal both go to the box after a little talking by the benches, both get a roughing call both players go for 2 minutes. Just seconds after the 2 players goes to the box, Pascal Dupuis picks up the puck at the side of Marty Turco's goal and slides the puck to a waiting Sidney Crosby, and from a point blank snap shot, to score his 6th goal of the season. Pascal Dupuis with his 33rd assist of the season and Kris Letang with his 28th of the season. Boston did test Pittsburgh goaltender Brent Johnson a few times. Tyler Seguin broke away but he lost the handle as Brent Johnson went for the poke check. Also Dan Paille's pass actually hit David Krejci in the crease and the puck went really near the Pittsburgh's goal. Paul Martin scores on a rebound with a wrist shot. He scores his 2nd of the season. Tyler Kennedy with his 22nd assist of the season and Kris Letang with his 29th assist of the season and his 2nd of the game. With less than 4 minutes to go Benoit Pouliot scores with a nasty backhand to cut Pittsburgh's lead in half to score his 15th goal of his season. Chris Kelly with his 19th assist of the season and Brian Rolston with his 16th of the season. That goal gives Benoit Pouliot 31 points a career new high. The horn sounds to end the 1st. Boston had 13 shots on goal to Pittsburgh's 10.

It also saw the return of Bruins Center Rich Peverley.
Anaheim Ducks won the draw and got game 75 underway. The first save of the game went to Jonas Hiller of the Ducks, as he robs Rich Peverley who was looking for his 1st goal back. Rich Peverley got a nice feed off Patrice Bergeron, Rich Peverley was going for stick-side low, but unfortunately Jonas Hiller flashed the glove. On the 6TH minute Boston went on their PP of the game. Brian Rolston was tripped by Lubomir Visnovsky. Lubomir Visnovsky to the box for 2 minutes. Andrew Ference got penalized for tripping. Andrew Ference to the box for 2minutes. Boston managed to kill the Ducks PP. After 20 minutes, still 0-0 and even the shots on goals were even at 6-6. But on a positive note, Rich Peverley and Marty Turco have been terrific. Unfortunately it was a forgettable 1st period.
Both set of players are back on the ice for the 2ND period. Both Goal tenders were having a good game. On the 5TH minute of the 2ND Zdeno Chara with a slap shot to score his 12TH of the season. No assists on the goal. Less than 2 minutes after Zdeno's goal Boston went 2-0 up. Benoit Pouliot with a snap shot scored his 13TH goal of the season. It was also Benoit Pouliot's 50TH career goal and his 100TH NHL point. Chris Kelly with his 18TH assist of the season, and Brian Rolston with his 14TH of the season. 11 minutes to left in the 2ND Anaheim went on a PP. After 40 minutes Boston are holding on to a narrow 2-1 lead. Boston are ahead on Shots on Goals with 18-13.
Now the players are back on the ice for the final time of the night. Andrew Ference blocked a shot, and he was having trouble skating back to the bench, once he was off the ice, he went straight down the tunnel to the Boston's locker room. In the 3rd minute Boston went on their 2ND PP of the night, Anaheim's Luca Sbisa went to the box for interference. Luca Sbisa to the box for 2 minutes. Matt Beleskey thought he had equalized for his team when he beats Marty Turco, but the Referee chopped the goal off for having a man on the crease still 2-1 Boston. During that play Andrew Ference came back on to the Bruins bench good sign he will be alright to continue the game. With 13:06 on the clock, Brian Rolston with a slap shot scored his 7TH goal of the season. Chris Kelly with his 2ND assist of the evening and his 18TH of the season, and Benoit Pouliot with his 16TH assist of the season. Boston took a timeout with 1:04 remaining in the game. Jonas Hiller went to the bench for a extra attacker with 30 secs to go. Just then the Hoot signals the end of the Game, Boston wins 3-2. I will say this trip was a success, 4 points out of a possible 6, against 3 tough opponents.
Tonight I will award the 3 stars to: 1. Marty Turco 2. Chris Kelly 3.Benoit Pouliot.
